Basic and continuing education
Minimum age: 21 years
Training in an exercise- or movement-related profession:
- Fitness instructor with a federal certificate;
- Specialist, professional or expert in exercise and health promotion with a federal certificate of competence
- Certified movement pedagogue (HF)
- Bachelor of Science in Sports and Exercise Science or Physiotherapy
250 hours (31 days) of in-person training in the exercise and health sector at one or more training centres recognised by the SPTV (proof by diploma). For each verifiable year as a self-employed or employed personal trainer, 30 hours may be credited, provided the workload during that period was at least 50%. This must be proven with an AHV/IV registration/certificate or a certificate of employment from the fitness centre.
The following documents and evidence must be submitted
Self-employed personal trainer
- Curriculum vitae with photo;
- Website (if available);
- Personal training client contract;
- General terms and conditions (GTC);
- Medical history form;
- Accident insurance;
- Proof of liability insurance with coverage of at least CHF 3 million;
- AHV/IV registration;
- Proof that a BLS/AED course or BLS/AED Refresher has been completed within the last two years.
Employed personal trainer
- Curriculum vitae with photo;
- Medical history form from the fitness centre;
- Personal training client contract of the centre, including GTC;
- Proof that a BLS/AED course or BLS/AED refresher has been completed within the last two years
Other requirements
Social skills:Â empathy, honesty, flexibility, professionalism, discretion, good manners, a healthy attitude to life, and a positive demeanour.
Practical experience: at least 1 year of verifiable professional experience at an average workload of at least 50% as a fitness trainer, group fitness instructor, or personal trainer. In the case of equivalent training abroad, or in case of doubt, the Executive Board decides on admission.
Continuing education: active members must complete regular continuing education of at least 2 days per year in a professionally relevant area. The SPTF decides which courses are recognised.
